Santos, who was named one of Billboard’s Pride Power Players in 2021, is also a Miami Police reserve and assisted in creating an LGBTQ+ liaison within the police department to help officers better understand the community.

In honor of Pride Month, Santos opened up to Billboard about his career path as part of the LGBTQ+ community.

How did the decision to come out impact your art?

As the first openly gay broadcaster on Spanish Radio, my art was impacted in a significant and powerful way when I came out.

I would say that the industry is more accepting yet not fully understanding.
