The gay bar scene in St.Pete is scattered along Central Avenue in the Grand Central District neighbourhood (gaybourhood).

There is a bar for everyone, however I do have a clear favorite.

COCKtail

This is clearly the place to be as it felt the busiest during my visit.

For COCKtail bar you enter via The Wet Spot, which is the pool bar at the Mari Jean Hotel.

Visit The Back Door, a small shop in the rear of the property. A fun experience and a unique and classy souvenir to take home with you.

Where to eat in St. Pete

There were some great options in St. Pete and whilst I am normally more excited for the main course, at two of my meals I had some of the best desserts I have had in a long time!

  Specializing in “stiff” drinks and “hard” liquor, COCKtail St. Pete, is in the heart of St. Pete’s gayborhood. The park area is fully equipped with misting fans, ice pools, and heaters to keep the pups comfortable no matter what the weather.

  Pour Judgement

  Making waves as Tampa Bay’s first craft shot bar, Pour Judgement is a blend of upscale craft cocktail bar vibes and the laid-back feel of a Florida dive.

  While not officially a lesbian bar, the Salty Nun definitely leans that way with its lesbian entertainment lineups and queer women ownership. Pete Pride is huge and has been celebrated for over 20 years with over 300,000 people attending last year’s parade alone!

  The team at St. Pete Pride run events year-round, with things ramping up in June culminating in their main pride weekend normally at the end of June.

  St. A  mix between an off-leash dog park and a full-service bar, it includes areas for both high-energy play and chill time for low-energy pups. We hope that nobody experiences discrimination or homophobia while visiting Florida and beyond, but we make no guarantees. Petersburg, Florida is a rather slow-paced city with a fast-growing LGBTQ+ population.

  This is why I am always looking to showcase and shout about those destinations that are doing the work to make sure LGBTQ+ travellers are welcome, despite what may be happening in the wider state – and St. Pete is a shining example of that!

  Pete gay friendly?’ – absolutely! Single, dating, married? Open every night, it’s got something for everyone. Simple!” according to the club’s social media pages. Serving brunch, lunch and late night drinks, the Salty Nun is a great place to grab a bite, have a drink, watch a game, or just hang out with the girls. 

  Lucky Star Lounge

  Considered by many to be “the best kept secret in the district,” the Grand Central District, that is, the Lucky Star Lounge has happy hour seven days a week.

  

  St Petersburg is comprised of a range of diverse and inclusive neighbourhoods, and whilst there is no specific gay district, travelers will find an assortment of gay focused venues throughout the city. the “gayborhood.” It’s here you find most of the gay and gay-friendly bars in the city. I highly recommend the steak here and this was the second place I found a winner when it came to the dessert – make sure you order the fried plantains in caramel, it was delicious!

Visiting St.

Pete in December has given me a taste and I am definitely keen to experience more.
