R House Wynwood is an award winning lgbtq restaurant known for its drag brunch, happy hour, and amazing latin-inspired food menu who just celebrated their 10 year anniversary in 2024.

So, I grabbed a Starbucks, and set off walking down the Ocean Drive seafront promenade.

The walk itself is beautiful – and what I loved the most about walking down the promenade is that all the iconic images you picture when you think about Miami become a reality – people roller skating, topless men working out on the sand, power walkers with their morning coffees and smoothies, and countless joggers sprinting alongside their dogs!

I walked down the paved promenade all the way to South Pointe Park – a beautiful green space right at the southern-most tip of Miami Beach.

Looking for something a little less nightlife-related? The restaurant is located in Upper Buena Vista in downtown Miami, in the Design District, so I would couple a lunch here with exploring the area. Club Aqua, Coral Gables, Downtown Miami

Club Aqua is the other main sauna in Miami, located downtown, and is actually more of a ‘health-club’ with its wide range of amenities:

• Fully equipped gym
• Steam room
• Dry sauna
• Outdoor pool
• Sundeck
• Video lounge

Despite all the above offerings, Club Aqua is actually very reasonably priced, with a one-off visit costing just $12 on a weekday, and $15 on a weekend, (both plus tax).

Palace Bar (South Beach)

Another South Beach staple, Palace Bar is known for its world famous drag shows and amazing food.

Operating Thursday through Sunday, opening late and closing later, Azucar isn’t a casual hangout spot – it’s a party. However, you might feel it is worth the journey because Haulover is a ‘nude’ beach. Like too many independent locales in South Florida, its closure had nothing to do with a lack of business or purpose, but with the redevelopment of land.

Long gone is the heyday of the Nineties, when queer culture hit the mainstream in a new way, and clubs like Warsaw Ballroom, West End, and Kremlin dominated the nightlife. A boisterous establishment with a strong Latin vibe, Azucar is quintessential Miami.
