However, since she grew up in England, she decided that she would rather represent the country that she grew up in and feels a deep connection to.
At 25 years old, she is at the mid-point of her soccer career, but we can’t help but feel that she is getting a lot better and we are going to see even more great stuff from Jess.
Not because she is ashamed of who she is (she really isn’t), but because she spends most of her time pushing for equality between both male and female sports. Since she is now 32, it is likely that this is where she will end up retiring.
Kelley O’Hara
Kelley O’Hara plays as a wingback. She has certainly made quite a splash during the 2023 Women’s World Cup!
She has enough gas in the tank to probably be one of the first defenders on the team sheet when the next Women’s World Cup rolls around in 2027.
Jess is currently in a relationship with Ann-Katrin Berger. However, they aren’t the only ‘out’ women to play for the national team. This includes a stint in France and in Australia.
That is her own business, and nobody deserves to know exactly who you are in love with. It wasn’t her fault.

When most people think of gay soccer players in the US, Megan Rapinoe is probably going to be the first name that springs to mind.
This is her own personal choice. She managed to even get in a few team of the month, while also hammering in a few goals.
In 2022, she was eventually traded to Gotham FC, and she has remained here ever since. Just 12 months ago, the best women’s soccer teams from across the globe and their fans converged on Australia and New Zealand to crown a new World Cup champion.
In that time, she has dated several other soccer players, including Sam Daly (an English player) but as of 2023, she is dating Sam Kerr, who plays for the Australian national women’s soccer team.
While Kristie Mewis is American, she started her professional soccer career in Australia where she played for Canberra United. This isn’t just because she started to get into the national team either.
In fact, she was causing a stir when she made her pro debut when she was just 14.
She is in a relationship with somebody called Valentina. That, ostensibly, gives each team a 22 player roster — still a player less than the World Cup — but those alternate players aren’t readily accessible. So, Kyah Simon has been breaking a lot of ground on the soccer field.
At a club level, Kyah Simon plays for Tottenham Hotspur in England.
She hasn’t really spoken too much about her sexuality, preferring to focus on her time on the field.
Although it may help that for much of her life she was based in the United States.
Over the years, Tahnai Annis has been a spokesman for many LGTBQ groups, including Athlete Ally, an advocacy group focused on making the sport more comfortable for those that are part of the LGTBQ community.
Ivana Andres
Ivana Andres is a center-back.
Luckily, they didn’t have to face each other in the cup!
We suggest that you keep an eye on Netflix in 2023. If somebody else is gay in the team, then it is up to them to announce it to the world when they feel comfortable, not for us to push for it.
With that out of the way, let’s talk about the lives of the known gay players on the team.
Kristie Mewis
32-year-old Kristie Mewis plays in midfield for both the national team and for Gotham FC.
She has been ‘out’ as long as she has been playing soccer. There was certainly no big song and dance about it. Although, she is likely to return in the future.
